CISBC Launches Committed to Bully-Free School Initiative

The Catholic Independent Schools of British Columbia are in the midst of promoting a campaign which sees them publically committed to anti-bullying policies.

The CISBC rolled out a Bully-Free School initiative earlier this year, which brings together an online presence for anti-bullying strategies as well as resources for families and educators. More >>

Halifax’s Our Lady of Schools closing its doors

Our Lady of Schools in Halifax, NS is suspending operations. After the school’s graduation in June, Our Lady of Schools won’t be open to accept students in the fall. With the need to find a new location and low registration forecasted for next year, the school’s board decided earlier this month not the re-open in September 2013. More >>


Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools superintendent receives national Indigenous Educator award

Gordon Martell was recently awarded with a national honour for his passion and leadership in advancing Indigenous students. Martell, a superintendent at Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools, was given a Guiding the Journey: Indigenous Educator Award from Indspire in mid-March. The honour is given to people who take on leadership roles in the educational community that foster achievement among kindergarten to Grade 12 students. More >>



CCSTA names Greg McNally as 2013 recipient of Higgins Award

Greg McNally is a familiar name around many
tables in Catholic education across Canada. From committees to curriculums and from local school boards to national events, McNally has become a respected leader throughout his 40 years in education.

For his outstanding commitment to Catholic education in the country, McNally has been chosen as the 2013 recipient for the Canadian Catholic School Trustees’ Association Justice

End of March signals deadline for tuition assistance applications

Sharpen those pencils! The deadline for
applying to receive CCSTA Endowment Funding for the 2013-2014 school year is nearly here.

Applications for receiving the tuition assistance will be accepted until March 31.

CCSTA convention plans to Embrace the Spirit

Although the CCSTA/ACCEC 2013 Conference isn’t on the calendar until June, it’s never too early to register for the inspiring and informative event.

This year, the annual general meeting and convention is being hosted by the Archdiocese of Winnipeg Catholic Schools, the Catholic Schools Commission of the Archdiocese of Saint Boniface and the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Winnipeg and is being staged June 6 to 8.  More >>
